OSCI Pro

Find out what's actually getting in your way.

You know you're good at your job. You also know something isn't quite landing. This is the assessment that tells you what.

Most professionals never get a clear answer to the question that matters most: how do I actually come across? They get vague feedback. Generic 360s. A personality test that tells them they're an ENTJ. None of it tells them what to do on Monday morning.

The Open-Source Charisma Pro Assessment is built for the person who wants the specific answer. Sixty questions, ten minutes, and a personalised twenty-three-page report that names the two skills where the next ten weeks of work will most repay you.

Why charisma is the skill that multiplies the others

Take two people with the same expertise, the same hours in the job, the same intelligence. One leaves every room a little stronger than they found it. The other leaves it the same. Over five years, the first one runs the team. The second wonders what happened.

The difference is not luck. It is not personality. It is a specific set of behaviours that anyone can develop once they know which ones are missing. We call them charisma because it is the easiest word for the effect they produce. The effect is real, measurable, and learnable.

What this assessment gives you:

A precise reading of how you currently land with the people around you. The two specific skills where you have the biggest gap between your potential and your current impact. A four-week plan to close that gap with practice you can run inside your normal working week.

What you get back, in plain English

The Pro report is twenty-three pages. The screenshots below are from a real sample. The name has been changed; the scores, the analysis and the development pages are exactly what you receive.

It tells you what's working

Most assessments find the gaps. This one starts with the strengths. Knowing what is already working is more useful than a list of what is not, because the fastest way to develop is to extend what already lands.

A key strength page from the report: B4 Emotional Control and Humility, scored 92 out of 100. The page describes what the score suggests, why it matters, and how to use the strength even better.

Page 11: Each of your two top strengths gets a dedicated page. What it looks like in practice, why it matters, and how to make it work harder for you.

It names the two specific things to work on

Not ten things. Two. The reason is simple: nobody develops ten things in parallel. The scoring engine picks the two that will move you furthest, fastest. Each gets its own page, with the underlying mechanics laid out and four concrete practices to run this week.

A development area page showing A1 Self-Esteem and Self-Worth, scored 52 out of 100. The page covers what may be happening, why it matters, the skill to build, and four specific things to try next.

It gives you a four-week plan

Most development plans fail because they are too vague or too long. The Pro plan is four weeks, with one or two specific actions per week, sized to fit alongside your normal job.

A four-week development plan. Week 1 starts small, Week 2 introduces the harder version, Week 3 uses a structured feedback method, Week 4 audits the shift.

Page 18: The four-week plan. Small enough to actually run. Specific enough to see what changed.

It gives you a tool to set your own goals

The report closes with a structured goal-setting exercise for each of your priority subscales. Five short steps. Ten minutes per exercise. The method is solution-focused scaling, used in coaching for thirty years for the same reason: it produces one specific next step.

A goal-setting exercise using solution-focused scaling. Five steps: where are you now, what is already working, what helped you get here, what changes if you move up, what is the next small step.

Who this is built for

The Pro is for the person whose job has more to do with how they land than how clever they are. You probably know who you are. Some pointers:

Common questions

How is this different from a personality test?

A personality test tells you who you are. The Pro tells you what you do. We measure behaviours, not traits. People with very different personalities can produce identical Pro scores, because the instrument is silent on what is going on underneath. What it sees is whether the behaviours that produce charisma in working life are present, and where they are not.

Why not just take the free version?

Take the free version first if you have not already. It places you in your quadrant and gives you a broad reading of where to focus. The Pro answers a different question: which of ten specific skills are doing the work, which are the gaps, and what should you do about it. The free Indicator points you at the country. The Pro gives you the postcode.

What if my score is low?

A low score on a subscale is not a verdict on you as a person. It is a reading of a specific skill that is not yet doing its job reliably. The work is incremental, visible, and doable inside the normal meetings of your working week. Most of the development pages in the report are specific enough to start on within twenty-four hours.

Is this for use with my team or clients?

Yes. The Pro is licensed for individual use at £39. For coaching networks, L&D departments, and consulting firms running the Pro with multiple clients or colleagues, bulk licences are at a lower per-seat rate. Contact Jim at jim.harvey@themessagebusiness.com for details.

Who built it

The Open-Source Charisma project is the work of Jim Harvey at The Message Business. Thirty years of practice with senior leaders, sales teams and consultants in firms including JP Morgan, Mercer, Ford and Rolls-Royce. The instrument is the empirical end of that practice, built to make the model usable for people who are not in the room with a coach.

The methodology, scoring spec, and validation status are set out in full on the Methodology page. The companion book, Open-Source Charisma, sets out the model in narrative form with stories, characters, and ten chapters of practice.
